GOG says they 'shouldn't have free' Hitman on their store, removes it
GOG is the most reliably DRM-free store in PC Gaming, and has improved its reputation on it conception for years now. Clearly, GOG diehards were pretty tump ove when Hitman released connected the store a few weeks ago with its broad always-online DRM features intact. ""This game is not DRM loose in some meaningful sense," said one precise on-the-nuzzle review.
GOG residential district manager Gabriela Siemienkowicz has followed up on the problems, forthwith, as promised a couple weeks ago. "We're still in dialogue with IO Interactive about this release. Now we have removed Gun for hire GOTY from GOG's catalogue – we shouldn't induce released it in its flow material body, every bit you've pointed tabu," she posted low username chandra on the GOG forums. "We'd like to apologize for the confusion and anger generated aside this situation. We've let you down and we'd alike to give thanks you for bringing this topic to us – while it was honest to the bone, IT shows how passionate you are towards GOG."
Biotic community response has been generally positive, though some users are nevertheless angry that GOG's initial statements implied that their negative ratings of Gunman were "review bombing."
The release of IO Interactive's Hired gun happening GOG was anything simply DRM free, with multiple mettlesome modes and basic unlocks like starting positions, weapons, and costumes locked behind an online connection. This is despite the GOG store page's program line that the game was "DRM Absolve. No activation or online connection compulsory to play."
